Veidekke will acquire a 46% stake in ESAM Møre and become a co-owner of the Ålesund site

Norwegian construction company Veidekke has entered into an agreement to acquire a 46% stake in ESAM Møre, making it the co-operative company’s largest shareholder.

The remaining 54% stake will continue to be owned by the original owners, namely ACO Anlegg, Blindheim Maskin & Transport and Svinø Entreprenør.

At the beginning of 2023, ESAM Møre signed a contract with Alvika Næringspark to operate the Alvika Miljøpark mass recycling facility, which is currently under construction.

This facility in Alvik/Bings will recycle and sell surplus materials generated by construction activities in the Ålesund region.

This acquisition will give ESAM Møre access to Veidekke’s expertise in mass production and processing.

Weidecke states that its activities are aimed at sustainable development and are in line with the UN Sustainable Development Goals. The company is focused on preventing waste of resources and using environmentally friendly materials in its construction projects, aiming to halve annual emissions by 2030.

ACO Anlegg, Blindheim Maskin & Transport and Svinø Entreprenør are also implementing sustainable practices in their projects, using environmentally friendly equipment and technology, minimizing downtime and promoting the reuse of resources in their operations.

The partnership is expected to bring significant environmental benefits by reducing transport distances and optimizing the value chain by ensuring the delivery of surplus material and the sale of crushed stone and gravel in the central region of Ålesund.

Veidekke Geomaterialer director Kari Berntsen said: “We are looking forward to developing Alvika Miljøpark together with Aco Anlegg AS, Svinø Entreprenør AS and Blindheim Maskin and Transport AS. It will be the county’s largest material collection and recycling facility for surplus material.

“We have been running Ålesund Massesenter since 1972, where we sell crushed stone and gravel to local asphalt producers and contractors for approximately 50 million kroner ($4.75 million) a year. Alvika Millieupark will be an important addition to further steps towards recycling excavated material, reuse and the circular economy.”

The region’s construction market is experiencing positive activity and growth is expected to continue in the coming years, Weidecke noted.

“Veidekke to acquire 46% stake in ESAM Møre and become part owner of Ålesund site” was originally created and published by World Construction Network, a brand owned by GlobalData.
