EasyJet, meanwhile, acquired the 52,752 sq ft premises earlier this year. ft. at 800 Capability Green for its growing events division, which earlier this month increased Atol’s volume by about a third to just over three million permits. The airline was founded in Luton in 1995.

The two brands will be located around five minutes’ walk from each other, which will undoubtedly lead to several new – and renewed – connections following the 2018 launch of easyJet Holidays, which hired then Tui group managing director Harry Wilson as its boss. The manager is a Tui veteran with over 20 years of experience.

It’s the latest in a string of changes at Tui as it moves to a “global curated entertainment marketplace” model, combining sales of traditional packages, dynamic packages and individual components.

Tui has a new managing director for the UK and Ireland, Neil Swanson, who takes over from Andrew Flintham, who was at British Airways Holidays. Elsewhere, Helen Caron, who succeeded Wilson when he left Tui in 2018, has also left the business, leaving after 24 years.

Toohey said sustainability was at the heart of her decision to move into Capability Green, where she hopes to achieve an EPC Class A (energy performance certificate) and a “very good” BREEAM rating, a measure of how sustainable a building is.

The renovation will include new mechanical and electrical systems that will convert the building to electric power, an electric hybrid heating and cooling system, electric vehicle charging points, upgraded windows and better insulation.

Swanson said the move would create a “dynamic and modern” workspace. “This new chapter for Tui marks a key milestone in supporting our growth, innovation and collaboration,” he said, adding: “Importantly, this move supports our long-term environmental commitments and will provide cutting-edge, green jobs for our teams . that meets the needs of the future.”
