Multiple crews called out fire in Wellington’s Newtown

Multiple crews were called to a house fire in Newtown in Wellington last night.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) was alerted to the fire on Daniel Street at around 8.22pm.

Four fire engines, one ladder truck, a command and control unit and a truck with breathing apparatus were sent to the scene.

FENZ described the fire as “serious” when crews arrived on scene.

Images taken this morning showed parts of the exterior charred and melted gutters could be seen from part of the roof.

A FENZ spokesman said all people at the site had been recorded. A fire investigator will return to the house later this morning.
