Governor and officials open new DMV Express site in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, Conn. – In an effort to make driver’s license renewals and other vehicle-related issues more convenient, AAA and the state Department of Motor Vehicles have officially opened a new DMV Express location at the AAA Northeast location at 1201 Kings Highway in Fairfield.

A ribbon cutting ceremony was held at the Fairfield site Monday, attended by Gov. Ned Lamont, DMV Commissioner Tony Guerrera, AAA Northeast Human Resources Director Ron Arigo and Fairfield officials.

“I am a card-carrying member of AAA,” said First City Councilman Bill Gerber, holding out his card to the delight of the assembled crowd. “I’ve been a member for 30 years and don’t leave home without it. So when I heard about this (new DMV Express location), I jumped at the chance to go here because it’s a really big deal. deal with.”

In addition to the Fairfield facility, AAA and DMV are opening similar Express locations in Norwalk and Danbury. The public, not just AAA members, can make appointments and visit these sites for license renewals and other select DMV services.

“This partnership will provide our community with the benefits of convenience, flexibility and time savings,” said Beverly Balazs, president of the Fairfield Chamber of Commerce.

Governor Lamont agreed. “We are trying to make life a little more convenient for each of you. In the past, going to the DMV with a long wait wasn’t always the most positive experience. Now you can renew your rights here, some people want it, and that’s what this amazing partnership with AAA is all about.”

Guerrera said the DMV is happy to partner with AAA.

“As the governor stated, he wanted us (DMV) to be there, he said we go to the customers and if they can’t come in, we go to them,” Guerrera said.
