A man wanted on child pornography charges in two Massachusetts communities was arrested Monday after he was found hiding at a secluded campsite in Connecticut, law enforcement officials said.

Steven Labrecque, 40, was captured at a campground in Woodstock, where he was believed to have been hiding for months, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Labrecque was wanted by Franklin and New Bedford police on charges of child pornography, photographing a child’s private parts, intimidation of a witness, reckless endangerment of a child, menacing, indecent acts on a minor, assault and battery, the agency said. confirmed in the press release.

Unsuccessful attempts to find and apprehend Labrecque led local police to request assistance from the U.S. Marshals, which led to Labrecque hanging out at a campground.

Connecticut State Police have registered Labrecque as a fugitive from justice. He is now awaiting extradition back to Massachusetts to face charges.

It was not immediately clear when Labrecque would return to Massachusetts.
