The Cardinals hired Brown as their hitting coach.

The St. Louis Cardinals have a new hitting coach. Yesterday, the team hired Brant Brown to run its hitting program. Brown spent last season as the Mariners’ bench coach and was the Marlins’ hitting coach in 2023. Brown will replace Turner Ward, who was fired at the end of the 2024 season.

The Dodgers great who pioneered baseball in the 1980s has died

He was a fan favorite and lit up baseball. Former Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Fernando Valenzuela has died. In 1981, Fernandomania appeared. He is the only player in Major League Baseball history to win the Rookie of the Year and Cy Young awards in the same season. To top it all off, the Dodgers won the World Series that year. Born in a poor small town in Mexico, Valenzuela, a six-time All-Star, was like a cult hero. He was supported by Latino fans in Los Angeles and others across the country. Valenzuela called Dodgers games in Spanish. Earlier this month, the organization said he was stepping away from the broadcast booth for the rest of the season to focus on his health.
