A woman has been charged over an alleged attack on a toddler in Perth’s East Victoria Park.

A woman has been charged over an alleged shocking attack on a toddler at a shopping center in Perth’s south-east.

The accused, a 21-year-old Ellenbrook woman, allegedly punched the two-year-old girl in the face at Park Center in Victoria Park East about 1.25pm ​​on Tuesday.

The child, who was being held by his mother, suffered facial injuries.

The accused has been charged with one count of aggravated assault causing bodily harm and will appear in Perth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Tuesday’s incident sparked a massive manhunt that lasted until Wednesday, with police arresting a 21-year-old woman at Mirrabooka Shopping Center at around 11.10am.

The public was first alerted to the search by a police notice at around 4.30pm on Tuesday.

Police later identified the woman they wanted to speak with as Pamilu-Rae Jetta, 21.

They said she was unknown to her mother.

Prime Minister Roger Cook said it was a shocking and difficult situation.

“It must have been incredibly traumatic for the mother and, of course, potentially very serious for the child,” he said.

“We are all shocked… I just hope mother and baby are healthy and wish them all the best.”
