1960 – Michigan City hands Hobart its first loss of the season – a 19-18 nail-biter who played at City High School.

1960 – Bernie Krueger’s Hammond Wildcats beat Washington 20-0 to remain undefeated. The Cats finished the season with a perfect 10–0 record.

1988 – Hammond High defeats Lowell 34-6 in the Class 4A playoffs. The Wildcats reached semi-state after defeating Hobart in the regional championship.

1988 – Longtime Portage coach Les Klein earns the final win of his long career, a 45-0 victory over South Bend Riley at the Warpath on Rt 6.

1988 – Led by Brad Smith and quarterback Mike Boughner, the Crown Point Bulldogs begin the playoffs with a 35-6 win over Westside. The ’88 Bulldogs eventually won the regional tournament, the only one in Crown Point football history to that point.

1994 – Hammond High goes 9-0, losing to Garyn Roosevelt in the section 25-0.

1994 – The Portage Indians improve to 9-0 after defeating South Bend Adams 42-0. This is the first state tournament win for new coach Craig Busea. The Tribe went to the state finals, where they lost to Castle, 301–2.

1994 – Lake Central beats the Merrillville Pirates 34-7 in the section opener.

1994 – Dave Templin recorded his final win as head coach of the Lew Wallace Hornets with a 40-9 win over EC Central at Badlands Stadium off Broadway.

2005 – Jeff Yelton’s Merrillville Pirates destroy Lake Central 41-3 in the opener at the Graveyard. The Bucs entered the state half that season with an 11-3 record.

2005 – The undefeated Griffith Panthers began their playoff run with a 57-7 win over Clark at the Boneyard. The Panthers would win the regional tournament and finish the season with a 13–1 record.

2005 – Morton defeats Andrean 24-10 on the Hessville School campus.

2005 — Crown Point improves to 10-0 with its first playoff win over the Valpo Vikings, 45-20.

2005 — The undefeated Whiting Oilers open the tournament with a 43-0 win over River Forest on the shores of Lake Michigan.

2005 – Chesterton tops Portage 48-29 in Class 5A sectional opener. The Indians finish the season 2-8, their worst record since 1986.

2011 — Merrillville beats Lake Central 30-24 in the Class 5A section opener at DeMarry Stadium.

2011 – Mishawaka defeats the Red Devils 35-14 at Inferno in Section 10’s Section 4A opener.

2011 – Ryan Turley wins his Brickeyes debut, 24-20 over South Bend Clay.

2011 — Wheeler shocks undefeated Andrean at Holy Lands 12-7 in the Class 2A sectional opener.
