Disney’s iconic musical Beauty and the Beast will captivate Adelaide in 2025

The magic of Disney’s beloved musical Beauty and the Beast will hit Adelaide for the first time in 2025, promising a thrilling theatrical experience for audiences of all ages. The highly anticipated production will premiere at the Festival Theater at the Adelaide Festival Center in May next year.

This enchanting story, as old as time, will be brought to life in a revamped production that retains all the grandeur and spectacle that audiences have come to expect, while incorporating cutting-edge technology and dazzling new designs. The series features the same creative team as other popular Disney productions such as The Lion King, Mary Poppins, Aladdin and Frozen.

“We are thrilled to present Beauty and the Beast for the first time with a new performance by members of the brilliant original creative team in Adelaide and Perth,” said Anne Quart, Executive Producer, Disney Theatrical Group. “This beloved show and Belle herself are as contemporary today as they were when they first arrived on stage in 1994. Following in the footsteps of our productions of Aladdin, Frozen, The Lion King and Mary Poppins, we look forward to presenting this treasured tale of two of our favorite Australian cities.”

The musical is based on the 1991 Academy Award-winning animated film, which became the first animated film ever nominated for Best Picture. The original Broadway production ran for 13 years and was one of the ten longest-running shows in Broadway history. South Australian audiences will now have the opportunity to experience the magic first-hand as they listen to mesmerizing songs such as “Belle”, “Gaston”, “Human Again” and “Be Our Guest” brought to life by a live orchestra.

Critics have already given the revamped production rave reviews, with publications including The Daily Telegraph, The Guardian Australia and Time Out Sydney giving it 5 stars. The show has been praised for its impressive sets, stunning costumes and breathtaking spectacle, which combine to create a truly immersive experience.

Leading the Australian cast is Perth’s Shubshree Kandia as Belle, along with Brendan Xavier as the Beast and Rohan Brown as Lumiere. The cast also includes Jackson Head as Gaston, Gareth Jacobs as Cogsworth and Jade Westaby as Mrs. Potts.

The creative team is led by Olivier Award nominee Matt West, who directs the production and choreography. He is joined by original composer Alan Menken, lyricist Tim Rice, book author Linda Woolverton and a host of other talented people to reimagine this classic tale for a new generation.
