Early voting begins Tuesday. Here’s what Marshfield voters need to know.

MARSHFIELD — Here’s your guide to the contested races in the Nov. 5 election in the Marshfield area. Polling stations will be open from 7:00 to 20:00.

There are races on the ballot, including the President of the United States, the United States Senate, the United States Congress, the Wisconsin State Assembly, and a statewide referendum question.

In some areas, voters will see referendums on school districts and referendums on whether city clerks and treasurers should be replaced with appointed positions.

US President

US presidents are elected to four-year terms. Earlier this year, Democrat Joe Biden announced he would not seek reelection.

Representatives of the Wisconsin State Assembly serve a two-year term. Republican Donna Rosar has held the position since 2021 but filed not to run after redistricting removed her seat from the district.

Referendums in local school districts

Wisconsin voters collectively will see more than 210 school funding referendums on the ballot through 2024, according to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction. In November, 120 districts will consider them. Here’s what some districts are considering.

  • Marshfield School District: $71.58 million capital improvement referendum

  • Colby School District: $17.77 million capital improvement referendum

  • Marathon City School District: $1.6 million recurring referendum

  • Medford School District: Referendum on $22.67 million capital improvements

  • Mosinee School District: Referendum on $19.75 million capital improvements

  • Pittsville School District: One-time $6.02 million referendum

City referendums on clerk/treasurer appointments

Here are the municipalities considering elected clerk and/or treasurer positions in Wood County:
