St George’s won the T20 Cup for the first time in 10 years, lifting the Kingsgrove Sports T20 Cup at North Sydney Oval on Sunday night.

Fairfield-Liverpool won the toss and elected to bat. Opener Jadin Simmons made 41 off 32 before he was bowled for 6th over in the 13th over. With an unbeaten 65 off 37 from Coby Holland and an unbeaten 8th wicket stand of 57 from Luke Hodges (11), Fairfield-Liverpool set a target of 166.

While St George’s faltered, losing three wickets in eight balls, Blake Nikitaras saved his best for last, scoring 107* off 59, including four sixes, to keep his team in the hunt.

St George’s ended the game with a few overs to spare, scoring 18 runs in the 15th over before Fairfield-Liverpool made three no balls and three balls to see 26 runs as St George’s reached 169 in the 18th over -m.

Earlier in the day Bankstown battled St George for a place in the final.

Having won the toss and elected to bowl, Bankstown struggled with the ball in hand. Kurtis Patterson (49), Blake MacDonald (31) and Luke Bartier (29) played solid knocks as St George finished on 185 after twenty overs.

Bankstown’s Ryan Felsch made 23 for 9 before Zeeshaan Ahmed scored a half-century off 34 balls, but the loss of five wickets in just 24 runs proved too costly as Bankstown crashed out of the title fight.

The second semi-final saw undefeated Northern District go head-to-head with determined Fairfield-Liverpool.

Fairfield-Liverpool, having won the toss and elected to bat, suffered early misfortune with the dismissal of Jadyn Simmons. However, Nick Carruthers steadied the innings with 55 off 26 and Yuvraj Sharma posted an aggressive 85 off 44 as Fairfield set a target of 216.

Lachlan Shaw hit the fly for ND, making 24 off 10 before falling to Jaiveer Singh Dhanoa in the third over. Early promise faded as Northern District suffered a middle-order collapse, losing four wickets for just 26 runs. Valuable strikes from Ben Mike (30) and Toby Gray (34) brought the team within striking distance. Ross Pawson scored 26 from just 11 balls in a late attempt to reduce the deficit, but the rising run rate proved too much to overcome.
