Open up your thesaurus, because we’re going to need a lot of words to describe the scrappy San Francisco 49ers. Yes, this is still the best squad in football. But the way they played was bad. And it’s nice.

The 49ers lost again to the Kansas City Chiefs. This tournament was not as close as the Super Bowl, with a score of 28-18. And there were many accusations. After losing and winning the Seattle Seahawks, the 49ers lose first place.

Here are my quick reactions. These are my live observations during the game. Warning: If you have a weak stomach, you may want to move on.

• It’s the second play of the game and Jake Brendel is already killing drives.
• I like seeing Ricky Pearsall early. It’s amazing he’s able to play after what he went through six weeks ago.
• The 49ers defense plays special teams better than the 49ers special teams. Great stop on that fake punt.
• Brock Purdy returns the ball to the Chiefs with a mysterious interception. That would be the topic of the day.
• I see the 49ers still haven’t figured out how to stop Patrick Mahomes from hurting them with his legs.
• Kalia Davis with a rare pass and interception on defense.

• Passing the ball on 3rd down against one of the best defenses in the game doesn’t seem like the best plan.
• Malik Mustafa is a heat-seeking missile.
• The defense looks good from the start. Crime – not very much.
• Pardee will not be able to buy the completion of construction in the first quarter.

• In his defense, his receivers aren’t getting open either.
• Anders Carlson with a 55-yarder in his first game with the 49ers. I didn’t expect this.
• Brandon Aiyuk with a big lead and a perfect pass to Purdy.

• Another terrible special teams play. I’m stunned at how bad they are.
• Mustafa punishes people there.

• Aaron Banks and Eric Sober tried to block the same guy. He still managed to fire Purdy. This crime today was terrible.
• Mitch Wishnowsky was busy in the first half. That’s how serious the crime was.
• Pearsall’s first catch in the NFL gets the crowd into it. This is the first thing they were able to enjoy in the attack.
• Now Ayyuk is wounded. The 49ers are already without Jauan Jennings. And Deebo Samuel played only a few snaps due to illness.
• It is concerning that Ayuk had to be taken to the dressing room.

• Jacob Cowing made a quick catch late in the first half.
• The 49ers’ performance was so bad that they couldn’t even gain a single yard. Pathetic.
• Deommodore Lenoir is the elite.
• I love seeing the 49ers get back into this game. This shows great determination.
• Carlson, how did you miss the PAT on a 55 yard throw? Kickers!
• You can’t trust anyone on the 49ers special teams. I don’t see how Brian Schneider will survive this season.
• Malik Collins hit Mahomes multiple times today.
• Nothing good will happen if you throw the ball to Ronnie Bell.

• It was pathetic defense on Mahomes’ 33-yard run. It’s just a shame.
• Why is Ji’Ayir Brown guarding Travis Kelce?
• Intimidation has deep speed. They need to use it more.

• Why don’t the 49ers use screen passes like the Chiefs do? This was a staple of Bill Walsh’s offense. Kyle Shanahan didn’t have that.
• I think the Chiefs are allowed to hit and not get sent off. Seems fair.

It was a terrible game, especially offensively. They couldn’t run the ball, they couldn’t throw it. And the defense wasn’t much better. Of course, they were missing some key players, but I still wish they had played better. Next up are the Dallas Cowboys, who also have a bye.
