Arriving in Australia next month for his anticipated headlining dates, internationally acclaimed musician, activist and award-winning filmmaker Michael Franti presented the opening acts of his headlining Togetherness Tour in Brisbane and Sydney.

Local three-piece Tjaka will join Michael Franti & Spearhead as special guests at the band’s sold-out Brisbane show on Saturday 16 November, while Gold Fang will warm up the crowd at Sydney’s Enmore Theater on Wednesday 20 November. Tickets for Sydney are on sale now HERE.

Known for their innovative approach to music, Tjaka create a blend of electronica and hip-hop, mixed with Aboriginal ancestral influences to create a unique and original sound. The trio’s vision is to create music that combines traditional Indigenous storytelling and sounds with contemporary production, showcasing the connection between old and new.

Combining electronic beats and hot rap that melts audiences into the crucible of funk, reggae and dance, Tjaki’s energetic bangers introduce the use of the didgeribone (a slide didgeridoo similar to a trombone), stunning guitar solos and deep FaceBass sounds to create a unique modern Indigenous experience.

The band have taken the stage at iconic local festivals such as Splendor in the Grass and Dark Mofo, as well as opening for the likes of Peking Duk and Katchafire, proving their live performances are a must-see.

Moving effortlessly between reggae, dancehall and hip-hop, Gold Fang is versatile yet unmistakable. The Sydney-based, Trinidad and Tobago-raised artist can easily imbue any genre he touches with a sonic imprint that is as distinctive as it is powerful. It was his undeniable presence and charisma that allowed Golden Fang to be tagged as “a rising star ready to take the world by storm” (triple j).

Gold Fang’s reputation as a live performer grew steadily as his unrivaled ability to command an audience became apparent. A rising star, he has toured Australia on nationwide tours with Sticky Fingers and The Terrys, and has also opened internationally for American superstar Lil Nas X, British grime legend-romancer and Jamaican dancehall icon Sister Nancy.

One of the most exciting prospects in the local music scene, Gold Fang’s versatility, personality and unmistakable vocals are undeniable as he combines the soundscape and life experiences of his time in Trinidad with contemporary sounds reflecting his new life in Australia.

In the final month of a sold-out 2023 tour, Michael Franti & Spearhead will bring their energetic live performance and inspiring music to Australia next month.
