SOLON — Fairfield hit the road Friday night to take on No. 10 Solon (Class 3A) in a District 5 matchup.

The Spartans (6-2) proved too strong as the Trojans (2-6) were defeated 61-19.

The team, previously ranked first in the rankings, took revenge after consecutive defeats.

Fairfield struggled to get anything going as the Spartan defense was stifled, holding the Trojans scoreless throughout the first half.

Meanwhile, Solon’s offense put up points early in the game.

Solon scored 20 points in the first quarter and added 28 more in the second to make the score 48-0 at the half.

Fairfield never had an answer. Ethan Bisgard threw two touchdown passes in the second half and Voss Richardson also scored one, but it wasn’t enough to get back into the game.

Bisgard led the Trojans with 88 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. Zandrick Ellison finished with 86 yards and Luke Konchal had 45.

Richardson finished with 66 yards through the air and 21 yards on the ground for one score.

On the receiving end, Dylan Adam finished with two catches for 36 yards. Bisgard and Ellison each caught 15 yards.

Luke Konchal led the defense with 12.5 tackles.

Fairfield will close its regular season on Friday, Oct. 25 at home against Grinnell.
