Kathleen Geiger has been arrested in connection with the murder of Arthur Osborne, according to police.

An elderly Ohio woman was arrested after allegedly shooting a man over something said during “harmless banter” between the two, according to multiple news outlets, local police said.

Arthur Osborne, 58, died after being shot on Sunday, October 20, at an apartment in Cincinnati, Ohio, Cincinnati police confirm to PEOPLE.

Citing investigators and court documents, WKRC, WLWT and Cincinnati Inquirer reported that Osborne was shot in the pelvic area.

Authorities have arrested Kathleen Geiger, 77, in connection with the murder, Cincinnati police told PEOPLE in a statement.

The affidavit, cited by WLWT, WCPO and FOX 19, claims Geiger told police she and Osborne were “engaging in harmless banter” when the incident occurred.

That’s when Osborne “jokingly” asked Geiger to shoot him, Geiger told police, according to the affidavit.

She allegedly said she believed the firearm was not loaded and shot it in the pelvic area, according to the affidavit, WLWT, WCPO and Cincinnati Inquirer.

According to court documents and sources cited by WLWT and WKRC, respectively, Geiger allegedly shot Osborne in the groin. Cincinnati police would not comment further to PEOPLE.

Police say Geiger gave Osborne medical aid and called 911, according to WKRC, FOX 19 and Cincinnati Inquirer.

Hamilton County online court records show Geiger was charged with negligent homicide and that her bond was set at $10,000.

Court records do not indicate whether she entered a guilty plea; The attorney listed in the documents did not immediately respond to PEOPLE’s requests for comment.
