Postal workers’ furlough canceled until after general elections

Steps have been taken to cancel furlough for all employees of the Post Office Department in preparation for the upcoming general elections.

Deputy Postmaster General Rajitha Ranasinghe has announced that leave for all employees of the Postal Department has been canceled from today (23) to 14 November.

However, any postal worker requiring leave for essential reasons must obtain permission from the deputy postmaster general in charge of his province, he added.

Ranasinghe also noted that collection of registered reserve mail-in ballot packages related to the general election is scheduled for today.

The general election will take place on November 14.
