Implementing the project “Supporting Women-Managed Cooperatives, Creating Jobs for Women Workers by 2030” (Project 01), Kon Tum Provincial Women’s Union Include the goal of creating and developing a collective economy and supporting women in a sustainable way out of poverty in the annual emulation evaluation criteria Women’s Union at all levels of the province.

Through advocacy and training, more than 90% of the Union’s relevant officials at all levels have improved their knowledge, skills and methods of supporting women in the development of collective economies and cooperatives for production and business; over 80% of members and women increased their awareness of collective economics, employment and entrepreneurship.

Chairman of the Kon Tum Provincial Women’s Union Y Phuong said: In implementing Project 01, the Standing Committee of the Kon Tum Provincial Women’s Union instructed all levels of the Union to create and maintain the work of 7 cooperatives with 119 members, and create 37 association groups. and cooperative groups, bringing the total number of collective economic models created by the Union at all levels to 175, with over 2,500 members, of whom over 80% are ethnic minority women.

Through the creation of models of economic development, as well as activities to support women in improving their economic power, the Women’s Union at all levels annually helps more than 500 women escape poverty sustainably; many projects and startup ideas of cooperatives and cooperative groups run by women have won high awards in competitions for women’s startups and aspiring entrepreneurs organized by the Women’s Union at all levels;

Many cooperatives and cooperative groups run by women survive and function effectively, attracting many women workers. Since then, members have become more attached to the Association.

Changing members’ economic thinking

It is easy to see that by participating in cooperatives and cooperative groups, women not only have an income, but also participate in training and professional development programs organized and jointly organized by the Association.

In Daklak, the Women’s Union at all levels integrated programs and resources for the implementation of Project 01, such as: training, consultation and technical support on the application of technology 4.0 for more than 80 women members of livelihood groups, cooperatives and cooperatives with women participating in the management of particularly difficult communes and villages of the Ea Sup region;

Together with the Provincial Cooperative Union, organized 2 training courses on collective economic knowledge for 150 cadres and women members in 2 Lak and Krong Ana districts… Through this, many economic models were born, contributing to the change in awareness and economic development of the thinking of ethnic minority women .

Speaking about this, Ms. To Thi Tam, President of the Women’s Union of Dak Lak Province, confirmed: “By participating in the collective economic models created with the support of the Union, women are also actively participating in the activities organized by the Union.” Thus, the position and role of the union organization are increasingly strengthened.

Actively seek Association to improve business knowledge

Ms. Mai Thi Huong, director of the Huong Thanh Seafood Producing and Trading Cooperative, said she used to be just a small trader making a living in the coastal area of ​​Binh Dinh.

Through programs to support collective farming and cooperatives run by women at all levels of the Women’s Union, she learned about the Women’s Union of Quy Nhon City (Binh Dinh Province) and came to it, where she received help, encouragement and support from the Union.

From a fish sauce association model, it and its members have grown into the seafood cooperative it is today and are active members participating in the activities of the Association.

Ms. Hoang Thi Thanh Nha, Vice President of the Women’s Union of Binh Dinh Province, said that while in the past the Provincial Women’s Union’s activities to support women in economic development were mainly focused on supporting women to access credit, now, with demands Project 01, support should be synchronous with the provision of knowledge, skills, connection to access to credit, product consumption, brand building, etc.

Through training courses for members of cooperatives, cooperative groups and livelihood groups in Hoai An, An Lao, Thai Son, Van Can, Vinh Thanh, etc., women gained more knowledge about the process of implementing activities to support the application of science and technology, identifying and classifying groups/teams/cooperatives suitable for the application of science and technology, thereby creating value addition in the women’s production and business chain.

Thanks to these benefits, many women have overcome their inferiority complex and self-dissatisfaction by actively turning to the Association to improve their business knowledge, adapt to the laws of a market economy and strive for economic development. This is also one of the factors contributing to increasing the effectiveness of the Association’s activities in the new situation.
