Barn damages structures, machinery and propane tanks in Bridgewater

BRIDGEWATER, NJ — Multiple emergency services were called to battle a large fire in Bridgewater on Sunday.

Findern Fire Station was called to Billian Street at 4.16pm to a fire. Shortly thereafter, the fire was upgraded to an active barn fire with extensive damage to several structures.

In total, the fire damaged four structures, several vehicles, several propane tanks and several fences, according to the fire department.

Also assisting were the Bound Brook Fire Department, New Jersey Department of Forestry, Manville Ambulance Service, Somerset County Hazardous Materials Team and the Bridgewater Police Department.

The Findern Fire Department, serving the southeast portion of Bridgewater Township, is always looking for volunteers.

Volunteers are offered full safety gear, free training, LOSAP (Long Service Award Program), pay-per-call incentive, life/disability insurance plan, and an on-site gym.
