EMMITSBURG, MD (October 21, 2024) – first-year goalkeeper Adelaide Paredes was named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

Paredes has been a key catalyst for a big week for women’s football at Mount St Mary’s. She delivered a 180-minute victory over top-ranked Quinnipiac, helping the Mountaineers to a 2-0 win and making five saves against Canisius in a 1-1 tie.

Throughout the campaign, the rookie from Newark, New Jersey made 77 saves in 15 starts, good for a save percentage of .811. Her goals against average is 1.20 per game and six of those 15 starts have been clean sheets.

This is Paredes’ second MAAC award after winning Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 19.

Mount St. Mary’s has an overall record of 6-7-2 and 3-4-2 in the MAAC. The team is tied for sixth place in the league with four other teams. Their next match is Wednesday (October 23) away at Iona. Starts at 11 a.m. from New Rochelle.
