NEW YORK – Marquette University women’s volleyball player. Aubrey Hamilton was named BIG EAST Conference Hitter of the Week and setter Yadira Anchante was named to the league’s weekly honor roll, it was announced Monday.


Marquette is in sole possession of second place in the conference standings after a five-set win over DePaul and a win over Xavier last week.


Hamilton hit .264 and averaged 5.13 kills and 3.63 digs over eight sets this weekend. In Friday’s five-set win over the Blue Demons, Hamilton had a career-high 28 kills to go along with 13 digs, three blocks and a pair of assists. Her kill total against DePaul put her over 1,000 kills in a Marquette uniform, making her the 14th player in program history to reach that mark. In Sunday’s win over the Musketeers, Hamilton had 13 kills and set a personal best with 16 digs.


Anciante recorded her team-best 12th and 13th double-doubles of the year, averaging 11 assists and a team-best 3.88 assists per set. Anciante held the Golden Eagles to hit .355 in the win over Xavier. Against the Blue Demons, she had 53 assists and 17 assists; both are her second-highest totals this season.


The award is Anciante’s third weekly honor of the season and Hamilton’s second. Hamilton was once named BIG EAST Offensive Player of the Week, October 9, 2023.


The Golden Eagles will complete their three-game homestand on Tuesday, Oct. 22 against Milwaukee before heading east this weekend for games at Seton Hall, Princeton and Georgetown.
