South Sydney Rabbitoh junior Toby Sullivan has escaped conviction after videotaping himself having sex with a woman without her permission.

Sullivan, 21, was sentenced at Waverley Local Court on Tuesday after pleading guilty to knowingly recording an intimate image without consent.

Court documents say the offense occurred on December 16, 2023, while the talented Rabbitohs prospect was enjoying a night out with friends at the Coogee Pavilion Hotel in Sydney’s east.

CCTV footage shows the young football star with a 34-year-old woman on the hotel dance floor.

The pair later went to an address in Bondi where they had consensual sex in the living room.

The couple soon moved into the bedroom, where Sullivan recorded himself and the woman on his phone while she turned away from him.

Court documents say the woman grabbed his phone and deleted the recording when she realized what was happening.

“It’s just for boys,” Sullivan explained, before trying to justify his behavior by adding that he was “just a kid.”

Sullivan (pictured) told the victim the recording was “just for boys” and then added that he was “just a kid”, the court heard.

Sullivan left the house shortly thereafter and the victim reported the incident to police the next day.

Sullivan was charged in March but initially denied he had done anything wrong and even told police he was not at the Coogee Pavilion Hotel that night.

Police later recovered the deleted files from Sullivan’s phone, along with a selfie he took while at the woman’s home.

On Tuesday, Judge Michael Barco questioned why the young soccer star couldn’t “enjoy the sunset” without having his photo taken.

“Can’t you really do anything without a mobile phone?” – he said.

“Can’t you enjoy the sunset outside or even sexual intercourse?”

Barco later added: “Some argue that the defendant was even lucky to be there, let alone share it with his comrades.”

Mr Barco ordered Sullivan’s conditional release for 18 months.
